Indian 2 First Look Revealed | Kamal Haasan Shankar: The first look of one of the most anticipated Tamil movie Indian 2 starring Ulaga Nayagan Kamal Haasan was revealed yesterday by director Shankar in his official twitter page.

Indian 2 is the sequel to the 1996 blockbuster Indian directed by shankar featurening Kamal Haasan in dual role of Father and Son along with ensemble cast of Manisha Koirala, Urmila Matondkar, Sukanya, Goundamani, Senthil, Nedumudi Venu, Manorama, Kasturi, Nizhalgal Ravi, Crazy Mohan, Omakuchi Narasimhan, Ajay Rathnam and others.

Indian was produced by A. M. Rathnam under the banner Sri Surya Movies. A. R. Rahman scored the music and Jeeva handled the camera.

Indian won three National Film Awards in 1996. Kamal Haasan for Best Actor, Thotta Tharani for Best Art Direction and S. T. Venky for Best Special Effects. Indian movie is remembered for a lot of things apart from great performance, music, screenplay.

The prosthetic makeup of Kamal Haasan and Sukanya designed by Hollywood make-up artistes Michael Westmore and Michael Jones, Varma kalai, exotic foreign locations, Freedom struggle scene featuring footage’s of Netaji are some of the highlights of the movie.

Indian movie story is about corruption in our society and one mans fight against the system. The screenplay, dialogues of writer Sujatha, ARR’s music and stellar performance of Kamal Haasan and other artist elevated the film to one of the best movies ever made. The film was selected as India’s official entry for the Academy Awards in 1996 under Best Foreign Language Film category.

In the climax of Indian, Senapathy [who was believed to be dead] calls Krishnaswamy from a foreign land and informs him that let people know that he is alive and he will be back whenever something wrong happens in the society. He ends the conversation with a punch dialogue ‘Indian is immortal. Jai Hind’.

That was a hint of a probable sequel to the film and it took nearly 22 years for the fans to hear the news of Indian 2. producer A. M. Rathnam discussed the idea of a sequel to this project with director shankar in 2011 when Anna Hazare was fighting against corruption.

In September 2017, In the television show Bigg Boss Tamil version, Indian 2 was announced jointly by Shankar and Haasan with producer Dil Raju, who would be bank rolling the project. It was speculated that The film will hit the floors once Kamal Haasan completes his impending projects Vishwaroopam II and Sabaash Naidu. The following month, Dil Raju backed out of the project and landed to Lyca Productions. On November 7, 2018, Lyca Productions had officially announced Indian 2 on Kamal Haasan’s 64th birthday.

The newely released first look of Indian 2 features Indina Thatha with his trademark Verma Kalai pose and the poster also has few details of the crew. As we mentioned the film will be directed by Shanakr and produced by Subaskaran under Lyca Productions who also produced Shankars most ambitious project 2.0. Anirudh Ravichander is replacing AR Rahman as music director, much to the surprise and disappointment of fans.

writers Jayamohan, Kabilan Vairamuthu and Lakshmi Sarvanakumar will be penning the dialogues, Ravi Varman will be the Director of Photography, Sreekar Prasad is the editor, Muthuraj is the production designer, action directors Jack Gill, Tadd Griffith and Peter Hein, lyricist Thamarai and Vivek will write the lyrics, Bosco is the dance choreographer and special make up will be handled by Legacy Effects. The film will go on floors from January 18 as mentioned in the first look with the caption ‘Focus on from January 18th’.

Kamal Haasan has announced that he will not be acting anymore after completing Indian 2 because of his political commitments, which is really frustrating news for die hard Kamal fans. But we all hope he will continue to make movies and hope that his dream project ‘Marudhanyagam’ will see the light of the day because it is not only the dream of Kamal Haasan, it is the dream of ardent Ulaga Nayagan fans.
