National Sports Awards 2023 | Arjuna Award | Khel Ratna Award: In the latest announcement for the National Sports Awards 2023, the Major Dhyan Chand Khel Ratna Award will be conferred upon Chirag Chandrashekhar Shetty and Rankireddy Satwik Sai Raj for their remarkable contributions to Badminton.
Additionally, Arjuna Awards will be bestowed upon 26 outstanding sportspersons, with Indian pacer Mohammed Shami among the recipients, in recognition of their exceptional performances in Sports and Games during 2023.
The National Sports Awards constitute a set of prestigious recognitions presented annually by the Ministry of Youth Affairs and Sports in the Republic of India. These awards are bestowed in a ceremony at the Rashtrapati Bhavan, typically held on August 29. In addition to the traditional sports awards, the Tenzing Norgay National Adventure Award has been included since 2004.
The six distinguished sports awards are the Maulana Abul Kalam Azad Trophy, Arjuna Award, Dronacharya Award, Major Dhyan Chand Khel Ratna, Dhyan Chand Award, and Rashtriya Khel Protsahan Puruskar.
Arjuna Awards 2023 Winners List
Arjuna Award was instituted in the year 1961. It is given to sportspersons for “consistent outstanding performance” over the period of last four years. The award comprises “a bronze statuette of Arjuna, certificate, ceremonial dress, and a cash prize of ₹15 lakh.
