Ilaiyaraaja daughter Bhavatharini passed away in Srilanka: Popular music director Ilaiyaraaja’s daughter Bhavatharini (age 47) passed away due to illness. Bhavatharini, who was undergoing Ayurvedic medical treatment for cancer in Sri Lanka, died today at 5.30 pm, it was reported.

Bhavatarini was born on July 23, 1976 in Chennai. Bhavatarini did her matriculation at Rosary Matriculation School, Chennai, and later her higher secondary schooling at Adarsh Vidyalaya, Peters Road, Chennai.

She made her debut as a playback singer in the 1984 Malayalam film ‘My Dear Kutty Chathan’ with the song ‘Thithithe Taalam’.

Bhavatharini rose to fame with the song ‘Mastana…Mastana…’ from the Tamil film ‘Raasayya’ released in 1995. Ilayaraja, who composed the music for this film starring Prabhudeva and Roja, made his daughter come to limelight as a singer through this film.

Later She sang songs composed by her brothers Karthik Raja, Yuvan Shankar Raja and other music directors like Deva, Sirpi, Harris Jayaraj and others.

In the year 2000, Bhavatharini won the National Award for Best Playback Singer for the song ‘Mayil Pola Ponnu Onnu’ in the Tamil film ‘Bharathi’.

She made her debut as a music director in 2002 with the film Mitra My Friend, directed by Revathi. Later, he composed music for the films ‘Phir Milenge’ (Hindi), ‘Amritham’, ‘Ilakkanam’ and ‘Mayanadi’. It is said that Bhavatarini was undergoing treatment for cancer for the past 5 months. Went to Sri Lanka for Ayurvedic treatment and got treatment there.

This time the treatment was ineffective and She breathed her last in Sri Lanka on Thursday at 5.20 pm. Her mortal remains will reportedly be brought to Chennai on Friday evening.
