Merlet Ann Thomas was born in Adoor, Pathanamthitta, Kerala. She spent her childhood in Bahrain, where both of her parents work. She has a younger sister – Marilyn.

Merlet Ann Thomas Education

After completing her early schooling, she moved back to Kerala and continued her studies while living with her grandparents.

Despite receiving audition calls during her education, her parents initially discouraged her from entering films. However, they encouraged her to first build a stable career. Merlet completed her Bachelor of Dental Surgery (BDS) in Chennai and later worked as a house surgeon, temporarily setting aside her dream of acting due to her busy schedule.

Although Merlet believed her dream of acting might never materialize, life took a positive turn when she began building a portfolio during her house surgeon period. While visiting Kochi, she unexpectedly received an opportunity to act in the Malayalam film Ezhuthola.

Her passion outweighed hesitation, and she took leave from her hospital job to take part in the seven-day film shoot. This marked the beginning of her journey into cinema.

After Ezhuthola, more opportunities followed. Merlet later appeared in Praharam and then in Antony (2023), where she played a small but notable role.

Merlet Ann Thomas Pani

Merlet’s performance in Antony caught the attention of Joju George, who later offered her a role in Pani (2024). The character required emotional depth and came with potential criticism due to its intense thematic elements.

Merlet discussed the role openly with her family, expressing her dedication to her craft. Eventually, her family supported her artistic choice, trusting her sincerity and commitment as an actress. Pani further established Merlet as a performer capable of handling layered and bold characters.
